In hospitality Industry Cleaning Rag or can be named Dust Cloth is very important cleaning kit. Some Hospitality Industries use special Rag with different Color for used for different purposes.
The Purposes for recycling programs many Hotels and Cruise Line using Out of Order Towel and Linen for Rag or dust cloth, and basically here is the explanation and proper way how to use RAG or DUST CLOTH efficiently.
- Let's take a rag
- Lay the rag flat.
- How many squares do we have here?
- Fold in half, from side to side.
- Now fold it in half, this time from top to bottom.
- So now we have one quarter
- If you look at this 1/4 rag, you have a top surface and if you turn it
over, you have a bottom surface, which means you can use this rag on two sides.
- Now if you turn the rag around, bringing the inside out, you have another two sides to use.
That makes it side three and side four.
- Now if you turn the rag inside out, you have another four sides to use.
- So in total, this rag, if properly folded will have eight (8) sides.
Now, many of you probably would hold a rag in a clump or bunched up. Using it this way, you will not gain the full use out of the rag, nor will you be touching the surface in a consistent manner.
Now that you have learned a new technique, you can see how one rag can be used up to eight (8) times.
For your safety, when using a rag, place it in your hand so it covers your fingers and palm, including the outer side of the hand.
This way if you are cleaning a wall, for example, and there is a sharp edge or nail sticking out, the rag will be first contact point, instead of your skin. This will prevent injury or cut. Always have the rag extend beyond your hand, next to the little finger
